DIGITAL PAINTING
Lemon-Lime Explosion is a digital painting I made using Krita, depicting the character Gummigoo from the indie-animated show, The Amazing Digital Circus. I'm a big fan of indie animation, and I thought this character's design was cool so I wanted to draw him. He also explodes into one episode, and I thought that was a funny scene, but I wanted to try and make it look as dramatic as possible. When I drew this, I felt like my drawings of characters weren't visually interesting enough, so I wanted to try making this painting as crazy looking as possible to test my limits.
The colours in particular were a gamble; I wanted to make them work, and use them to really channel that zesty, citrus-lemonade-y flavour I associate with this character. I still think I could have used them better, perhaps by adding more contrast through shadows, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Even if it hurts my eyes a little.

The final art of Gummigoo (the character) exploding, beautifully.

This is the digital sketch I made, showing the basic idea I had for the painting.

This was a sketch I made when I was figuring out how to draw the character. I eventually abandoned this sketch in favour of working on my composition and focusing on the colour scheme.
