DIGITAL PAINTING
Rosalina's Space Dress is the name of a digital painting I made using Krita, of the character Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy. With this painting, I wanted to practice my rendering skills and experiment with textured brushes, colours, and lighting. I also really wanted to draw the inside of her dress being a portal to space, since I noticed that was a thing in her Super Smash Bros Ultimate 3D model. While making this, I got carried away adding in more and more little details, like the various shades of glitter. What that craziness resulted in was the drawing below, which I'm really proud of.

This is the final drawing! Click the arrows to see older stages of work, plus a reference photoset. My favourite parts of this are the glitter, the clouds surrounding the hem of the dress, and the colour scheme. I found it fun to experiment with colours like pinks and blues to make it resemble the character, but still having the painting look unique visually. I used colour theory to make it still look like she was blonde even though there are no yellow hues in this painting. =)

This is the drawing before I started going crazy with the details (mostly the glitter). As you can see, some things were different (legs were longer, face looked more sad). I was also planning on making this in a more minimalist style, but I ended up changing it later to better fit my vision.

Some references I used for Rosalina's design. These screenshots are from Super Smash Bros Ultimate for Nintendo Switch. While the idea came to me from seeing her dress's galaxy, I added my own personal touches to her dress in the final painting.
